Why switch to washable incontinence underwear or pads?

The main reasons for switching to washable incontinence pads and absorbent underwear pads are simple:

Reusable Incontinence Pads and Pants - eco, comfy products, better for the environment

It should be a bit of a no-brainer that switching to washable, reusable products is going to be better for the planet than disposable sanitary products. Although we all know that single-use incontinence pads and pants should be binned not flushed, they still end up in our sewers, contributing to putrid ‘fatbergs’ and then causing pollution in our waterways and seas.

Disposable incontinence pads wash up on our river banks.  They also end up in the stomachs of fish, turtles, sea birds and sea mammals. It’s not only sad, but it's sickening.

Even if you do the right thing and bin your disposable incontinence products, the vast majority of them aren't biodegradable or are only biodegradable if home composted, which is an example of 'green washing' to be aware of. Most of these end up in landfill, taking hundreds of years to decompose.

Of course, the materials and energy used to create and transport these products through the supply chain have an enormous HUGE carbon footprint much higher than that of reusable pads or pants over their  lifetime. The equivalent of switching to reusable incontinence pads and / or pants creates just a couple of additional loads of washing annually, if you have a 7kg washing machine and are washing as part of a full washload.

Reusable incontinence products save you money

The Urology Foundation recently estimated that the amount we spend on private purchases of incontinence products is around £750 million annually in the UK.     Splitting that out per person buying the leading brand and assuming they change their pad 3 times per day, that's around £5 - £10 weekly, or £250 to £500 over the course of a year.

Switching to reusable incontinence protection comes with an upfront cost, but then that's it. If you bought our reusable incontinence bundle, that would cost you £99.95  or around 3 months worth of disposable products.  Surely an investment purchase.

Washable Incontinence Pads and Pants are WAY more comfortable and easy to wear

There's no doubt that reusable incontinence pads and pants are so much more comfortable than their disposable counterparts, 'fluffy vagina blankets' in fact. Popper the pads into your pants patterned side / label side down and plain side towards your body. Because there's no glue, you won't have the issue of them catching on your pubic hair or delicate skin which can be very sore.  More importantly, they also won’t chafe or rub, so are great for activities, whether that's yoga, strength training or walking the dog.

Hopefully you've got some idea now of why you would want to swap to reusable incontinence protection. Take a look and find out what you need to switch to reusable incontinence pads or pants.
