Best Incontinence Pads for Sensitive Skin

9 November 2022
Urinary incontinence is a very common problem but can be embarrassing for sufferers. Many people experience occasional small leaks when they sneeze, laugh or do star jumps; others struggle with a sudden urge to urinate that is so strong they don't make it to the toilet in time.

It's worth pointing out right up front that it's always worth seeing a healthcare professional to see if they can improve your pelvic floor health - they often can!

The need for protection at all times 'just incase' involves spending lots of money on incontinence products which may get wasted if bladder leaks are unpredictable. Having disposable incontinence pads next to the skin at all times can lead to, or aggravate sore, irritated, rash sensitive skin. How to make a bum deal worse!

When answering our pee and period advice questionnaire, customers have expressed their despair with many skin conditions that are exacerbated by their bladder weakness combined with disposable control pads - eczema, lichen sclerosis, vulvodynia, thrush, bacterial vaginosis to name a few!

The best incontinence pads for sensitive skin are made of natural fibres and are designed to wick moisture away into an absorbent core, whilst the area next to your skin stays dry. Washable incontinence pads absorb urine, protect sensitive skin and save you money almost straight away!

I moved to reusable pads 12yrs ago after the birth of my third child. My skin suddenly couldn't cope with disposable pads and was irritated all the time. I switched and have not had a days trouble since! Many of my pads are still going strong from my first order. I rinse them, store in a box or wetbag, then wash alongside the rest of our washing.

They are easy to wash and store, easy to transport when out and about meaning that you won't get caught short or need to dash to the shops before an exercise class or country walk! You can read about how they work and washing and care guides here.

The best incontinence pads for sensitive skin are made from these materials:

All our Cheeky pants pads can be used for if you have bladder control issues and for periods so no need to buy twice. Each type has liners, day pads and night pads with extra large sizes in the Feeling Fearless high absorbency pads which are charcoal impregnated, designed with incontinence and odor control in mind.

All of our fabric dyes meet Oeko Tex 100 standards or are natural undyed fabric.

"Incontinence Medium Fearless pads. Took a short time to get used to. Wish I had known about these earlier! Wouldn’t change back now. Great product washes well. Highly recommend." Anon Oct 22 trustpilot

Cotton

Charcoal impregnated incontinence pads

All our incontinence pads were designed by our incontinence expert Penny Broderick, these pads have a brushed cotton top permeated with charcoal to trap odours. They are super thin with high capacity for fluids and shaped to best catch leaks quickly, keeping your skin dry. Opt for our standard grey pads or push the boat out for our beautiful hand made limited edition pads.

Organic cotton incontinence pads

Our organic non slip pads feel like sitting on little cushions. Still thin, topped with jersey cotton just like your average pair of pants they have silicone strips to hold them in place in your underwear.

Cotton ultrapads

Cotton topped and cool next to your skin, these are our least absorbent pads. Great for infrequent leaks or as menstrual pads. Brilliant for peri-menopausal random periods.

Bamboo

Bamboo regenerates when cut and grows quickly making it a fantastic sustainable and renewable source of material. Bamboo is naturally antibacterial and hypoallergenic.

Bamboo period and pee sanitary pads are very absorbent even when slim so are a great choice for overnight protection. They are the thickest of our pads so best for peace of mind from larger leaks.

"Glad I made the switch! I’ve just experimented with the incontinence pads and am very glad I did! I found them very comfortable and effective for everyday use with moderate incontinence. I used them with my normal pants at home, 3 to 5 a day (I am plagued with hay fever!) and have invested in the pretty Feel Fearless pants for ‘going out’, which I find very comfortable and flattering. Both I find easy to wash and the pads don’t take long to dry naturally, the pants do take longer to dry. I’m switching to the make up pads now." PJB Aug 22 trustpilot
